Sicily - TENUTA MURGO

The Baron Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo, after a long career as a diplomat and having been Italian Ambassador in important embassies, decided in 1981 to transform the ancient family property in a modern productive agricultural estate, carrying out gradual and continuous improvements. In the following years, the sons Michele, Alessandro, Pietro and Matteo joined him, supported by the brothers Filippo, Bernardo, Manfredi and Costantino. In 1982 the first Etna Rosso was bottled, following in 1990 the first Spumante Murgo Brut. Situated at 500 meters above sea level, on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, below Zafferana Etnea, the vineyard has a net extension of 24,5 hectares and the main part is registered as DOC Etna.
